The Wong Family // Toronto Family Photographer

Remember this sweet family? One of Ming’s sisters, Lynn, contacted me in the Spring (yes..of last year! I’m catching up!) and asked me if I’d photograph her family, her parents (grandma & grandpa Wong), her siblings & their families. I was like – yea!

They were such great people, and it was such an honour and a pleasure to document 3 generations of a family together. I knowI’ve said this before, but there’s something amazing about being around kids. Their sense of wonder and joy at the smallest things bring out the kid in me and makes me feel giddy and worry-free. It’s possible that I’m totally biased since these kids were so well behaved. :)

Shannon & Chris {Scarboro Golf & Country Club} // Toronto Wedding Photography

Shannon & Chris got married on a late September day at the Scarboro Golf and Country Club. It was a beautiful Fall day to get married. Chris is probably one of the kindest persons I’ve ever met and he just adores Shannon. As Shannon said during her speech, he’s just a big teddy bear. And Shannon? Shannon is beautiful, and she loves Chris wholeheartedly. You can just tell they are so good together.

One note about the venue – I was surprised at how classy the Scarboro Golf & Country Club is! Ok let me explain, most golf & country clubs I’ve been to are classy, but in a modern and almost preppy way. Whereas this one is classy and vintage and has one handsome clubhouse. The club has a lot of history since it dates back to 1912.

Thanks to my friend and fellow photographer, Karen of Boutique Photography for having me along to help with this wedding!

There’s something about Dad’s and their daughter’s…

We saw a deer on the course!

Shannon’s dad put his sunglasses on as he was starting to tear-up. Aww.

Document Love: Jeannie & Beukes // Burlington engagement photography

Love, documented: Jeannie & Beukes. They are wine lovers, and they are getting married in less than a month. For their document love/engagement session, we went to the restaurant where they had their first date, had some fun with giant purple balloons and walked around Village Square in Burlington.

“For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart. It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul” – Judy Garland (from the song My Love is Lost). These words describe how it feels to find that person with whom you can share your life with. And I think that’s how Jeannie & Beukes feel about each other.

Windy day by the lake = balloons trying to escape. We lost one shortly after these photos.

Location, Location, Location! // Allan Gardens Wedding // Toronto Wedding Locations

I’ve lived in the GTA area for over a decade but hadn’t heard of the Allan Gardens Conservatory until last year. (I know, which Toronto have I been in?!) I visited for the very first time earlier this week with my friend Alex, of Young Hearts. We were doing a location scout as Alex is shooting a wedding there next weekend.

I’m not really the flora aficionado (does anyone else find this to be a funny word? no?) in the family, my mom is. Though I’ve been known to occasionally geek out at their beauty, so I was quite surprised by the 6 greenhouses at the conservatory and found myself marvelling at all the plants. Each of the greenhouses hosts a permanent collection with different temperate environments. My personal favourites were the Palm House, and the Cool Temperate House. The architecture itself is, well, vintage-y for lack of a better word to describe it. It reminded me of the Grand Palais in Paris, which was built just 10 years before the Allan Gardens, in 1910.

Here are some photos from our scout, I think an Allan Gardens wedding is great especially if you love plants & flowers ;) It’s a lovely and intimate location for a ceremony or just for some wedding photos.

P.S. this is totally unrelated, but according to Wikitionary, the etymology of “aficionado” is Spanish, meaning to inspire affection.

The only Banana Tree in Toronto in the Palm House; Right is the grapefruit-sized lemons that I’m pretty sure came from Sorrento, Italy

Grand Palais of Toronto? It’s the glass domes.

Something a little different.

Document Love: Anna Maria & Duy // Niagara-on-the-Lake engagement photography

Anna Maria & Duy: high school sweethearts, bicycle lovers, and food lovers. They are laid back and appreciate the simple things in life – my kind of people. :) Their engagement was quite a story! It involved a special trip to the Bahamas, jet skiing, Duy almost losing the ring, and a proposal in the middle of the azure Caribbean ocean. So incredibly sweet. I love a good engagement story . For their Document Love/engagement session, we took a day trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake because they love biking in the area. We walked around downtown Niagara on the Lake, made a geltao stop (yum!), and walked around the neighbour by the lake. It was a beautiful Fall afternoon to be spent in the company of two great people.

Anna & Duy, I’m super excited for your wedding in September!
