Credit Valley Golf & Country Club Wedding // Jennie & Mike

Jennie and Mike’s beautiful Credit Valley Golf and Country Club wedding took place on the tail end of a long fall season. We were lucky to have a long fall season last year so even at the end of October the leaves were still cooperatively yellow.

One of my favourite moments on a wedding day is when the couple gives each other a letter to read. It pretty much always result in some great moments. This was definitely the case on Jennie and Mike’s day. As Jennie read Mike’s letter, “I fell in love the way you fall asleep; slowly and then all at once”, tears welled up in her eyes and rolled down her cheeks. Brides often worry about crying on their wedding day because they don’t want to ruin their makeup, but I think those real emotions are what make the day so special. Plus, holding back tears doesn’t look that great anyway. :)

Thanks Jennie and Mike, for being so great to work with, and for having me document your super special day! Here’s the story of Jennie and Mike’s beautiful day.

Toronto Canoe Restaurant Wedding // Tiff & Jon

Intimate & Beautiful Restaurant Wedding

Tiff and Jon’s Toronto Canoe restaurant wedding was definitely a favourite of mine from this past year. I know I’m not supposed to pick favourites, but this one, this one definitely has a special place in my heart.

Maybe because I’m a romantic at heart, I love stories of “chance” meetings. You know, the kind of meeting where if one small detail had changed, it might not have ever happened. Tiff and Jon’s meeting was one of those. Tiff and Jon met online through MSN, and at the time Tiff was chatting with Jon through her cousin’s account so Jon didn’t even realize who he was talking to at first. Their online chance meeting evolved into a friendship and it would be another 6 years before they would meet in person (as Jon is from Ohio). For a while time wasn’t on their side and they were each in relationships with other people. Then in 2015 the time was finally right and Jon confided in Tiff that he had wondered what would happen if they dated. And the rest was history.

I have always known that I’m a very emotional person, and I’m an INFP on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. I’m that person who ugly cries at movies. Case in point was watching The Time Traveler’s Wife (the book is one of my favourite) in theatres with a few friends and afterwards, one of them said in disbelief “I can’t believe that was you!”. She was referring to the fact that I was making these awful noises you would make if you were crying very hard but trying not to make too much noise. Needless to say the lesson I learned was never watch sad movies in theatres again, and if I do, only watch them with Mike because he would not make fun of me (haha).

Growing up I always thought I was weird for having all these feelings, I didn’t understand the purpose of this trait. And then years later I became a photographer, and it slowly became clear to me that this sensitivity to emotions is my unique tool in what I do. I’m constantly tuned into them at weddings, and they help me capture all those moments that are so fleeting but represent so much of the story of a wedding day.

Tiff and Jon’s wedding was such a day and here’s the story of their wedding day.

Thank you Tiff & Jon for your easygoing nature and for inviting me to share in your celebration and trusting me to capture it all for you to relive the story.

Toronto Wedding Photography // Tiara & Roy

At last I get to share the story of Tiara & Roy’s wedding day! What can I say about them? I’ll start from the beginning, when Tiara contacted me back in May of 2013 about photographing her and Roy’s wedding. In her second email to me, she described my work as “clean, soft, and genuine”. I don’t think I ever told her how much that meant to me. It made my day, week, and month. In fact, to this day I still think about that and smile. So thank you, Tiara. For seeing and connecting with those qualities in my work.

Then the day of our meeting came. Over tea, coffee and macarons, we talked about how she met Roy, their travels and Iceland. I was going to be visiting Iceland for the first time and we instantly bonded over that. And I could already feel the special bond she and Roy shared.

Their wedding came around soon enough and it was a beautiful day of happy tears, joy and love; love for each other and love for their friends and families.

I think if it weren’t for the fact that I’m a wedding photographer, there are a lot of people whom I simply would probably never meet; like Tiara and Roy.  Thank you for sharing so much of your story with me, and for inviting me to be a part of your wedding day! It was a pleasure to be a part of it. You are two of the kindest, sweetest souls I’ve met and I wish you a lifetime of treasured memories and love. xoxo

High Park Engagement Photos // Amy & Henry

They say that “birds of a feather flock together”. Well, I think proverbs really do express a truth that is based on common sense or real experience. The first thing that I learned about Amy and Henry was that they love to travel.

Well, you had me at “travel”. When we met, we just talked about their travels. I can honestly say that is one topic that I’ll never get tired of talking about. It was also very apparent to me how in love they are with each other. This made it very easy to capture their connection during this Document Love/engagement session.

Amy & Henry, I can’t wait to be a part of your wedding day in June!

Bellamere Winery Wedding // Jess & Kyle

Jessica & Kyle had a beautiful Bellamere Winery wedding on a crisp fall day. Surrounded by their closest friends and family, it was a day full of tears, laughter, joy and a lot of love.

As a photographer, I’m a huge fan of First Looks. Sometimes couples worry about how they would feel at the ceremony if they saw each other before hand. But I feel that no matter what, nothing can take away from the significance of walking down the aisle/seeing your bride walk down the aisle. In this case, Kyle’s reaction seeing Jess come down the aisle is testament to that feeling. As I look back at the photos I took, I can feel their love and their connection come through the images. As well as their love and connection for their friends and family. Life is a journey, and that journey is so much better when you can share it with someone.

Here’s the story of Jess & Kyle’s wedding day.

Big thanks to Darren of Hatt Photography for helping me set up this last shot and for second shooting!
