Toronto Child Photographer // Isla

It’s not often that I photograph a child alone, though Isla’s mom was with us and did make appearances! Little Isla gets photographed once a year, around her birthday. I think it’s a great idea to create documentation of your little one’s childhood. They grow up so fast after all. I’ve always loved photographing children, not only because childhood is such a precious time but because they are so trusting. If you open your heart and show your true self, they do the same. As a photographer, that trust is something very precious that allows you to photograph something authentic and pure, something that can be hard to do with older subjects.

Here are some of my favourites from our session!

Family Photographer Toronto // Nicki & Brad + James & Emily

Nicki and I used to work together, years ago. Our desks were diagonally across from each other. Back then, she was freshly married and no kids yet. And now she has handsome James and sweet Emily. I met up with her and her beautiful family last summer and they had a family play date, while I tagged along and documented some memories. The below words from Nicki after she received the photos make my heart sing. Hey Janice,

Just want to say thanks for the amazing pictures. You truly were able to capture some meaningful moments that I know I will cherish forever. The presentation of the package was incredible. I am so impressed! I am also very happy for you that you are living out your dream. You are a true inspiration. Good luck with everything and thanks agin for a wonderful experience!!
Nicki :)

Thank you Nicki. Here’s to meaningful photos, moments that we can cherish forever, and living out our dreams.

Tara, Abbey & Ryan // Toronto Family Photography

I spent part of an afternoon last May with Tara and her two adorable kids in the park. Judging by the photos, you’d never guess it was the middle of May already because it was quite chilly that day. Oh the joy of living in Canada ;)

We ran around the park, climbed some trees, and rolled in the grass. A lot. Ok, they did, I didn’t climb anything. But, there was a lot of silliness. I’ve said this before, but I really do love working with children. Their energy, sense of adventure, and wonder are just so contagious. It makes you forget all your worries and just focus on the present. Then you remember, yes, I used to do that too; you remember what it’s like to be fully present in the moment.

Right before the below photo was taken, I asked Abbey what was her favourite thing about her Mom, and she said, “everything”. :)

Did I mention, the session was a birthday gift for their Dad?

Told you, a lot of rolling in the grass :)

The Wong Family // Toronto Family Photographer

Remember this sweet family? One of Ming’s sisters, Lynn, contacted me in the Spring (yes..of last year! I’m catching up!) and asked me if I’d photograph her family, her parents (grandma & grandpa Wong), her siblings & their families. I was like – yea!

They were such great people, and it was such an honour and a pleasure to document 3 generations of a family together. I knowI’ve said this before, but there’s something amazing about being around kids. Their sense of wonder and joy at the smallest things bring out the kid in me and makes me feel giddy and worry-free. It’s possible that I’m totally biased since these kids were so well behaved. :)

Alice & Wayne + Natalie & Katherine // Oakville Family Photographer

You saw the sneak peek last week, here’s the rest of my favourites from our fun early evening photo session. They have such a wonderful family with two sweet and beautiful girls.

I think lifestyle family sessions are the best – photographing them doing what they would do as a family, in their natural element.

Mom & Dad got a few photos for themselves :)
