Adrienne & James {Corus Entertainment Building} // Toronto Wedding Photography

I met the lovely Lisa of Lavish and Light Photography at a workshop almost 2 years ago and have adored her work ever since. So I was pretty excited when I got the chance to second shoot with her for Adrienne & James’ wedding this past summer.

Despite the on and off thunderstorm and the humidity throughout the day, nothing could dampen the joy for Adrienne and James. As you will see below from a handful of my favourites. The most unique part of their wedding though, was their reception venue, which was the Corus Entertainment Building. I’d never heard of Corus before but what a whimsical and different venue it is! It’s actually an office building but they have a huge atrium in the back facing Lake Ontario, with all-glass windows. It’s modern and fresh. The coolest part of the venue is the giant tube slide that spirals from a height of almost 3 stories, and that is how Adrienne and James made their grand entrance! It was such great fun.

Someone is pretty excited! :)

Maitreyi & Shane // Archeo Wedding // Toronto Wedding Photography

“We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.”

Mike, the best man at Maitreyi & Shane’s wedding read this quote by Dr Seuss, which I adore.

Maitreyi & Shane got married on the last weekend of 2012. Maitreyi, or affectionately known as Tree by those who know her, and Shane met at Chapters where they both worked. That’s also where I met them. So we go way back =) I was thrilled when they contacted me and told me they were getting married! They flew in a few days before the wedding from India, where they had been working and living for the past few years. The wedding ceremony was an intimate affair with just 12 guests and it was followed by a beautiful Archeo wedding reception in the Distillery District. Both days were filled with love, joy, laughter, and reunions.

Congrats you guys! Wishing you nothing but the best for the new chapter in your lives! Thank you for having me along – it was amazing to be able to document the story of your wedding days.

We had a mini Chapters reunion!

Sneak Peek: Greg & Thea’s intimate wedding

“Now you feel no rain, for each of you will be sheltered to the other.

Now you feel no cold, for each of you will be warmth to the other.

Now you feel no loneliness, for each of you will be companionship to the other.

Now you are two persons, but there is only one life between you.”
Theirs was a wedding full of love. More to come soon!

Pipers Heath Wedding // Karla & Steve

This is Karla & Steve’s Pipers Heath wedding. It was beautiful and full of love. The first time I met them, it really struck me how genuinely kind both of them were, and this kindness and love for each other was reflected in their wedding day.

I love the personalized details that went into this wedding. Not just any details, but meaningful personalized details. There was the bike-for-two theme of their wedding invite (they are both very active); the handkerchief that Karla carried to honour both her mom and her grandmother; the tandem bike at the wedding for their photos; the hand-stitched wedding date Karla sewn into Steve’s tie; the matching sneakers Steve bought for them; and the Andy Frost recorded reception entrance announcement because, well, Steve is a huge Maple Leafs fan (also, it was incredibly funny!) Everything was a reflection of who they are as individuals and as a couple. Bouquet toss? Nope, didn’t make sense to Karla. Instead, she gave her beautiful bouquet to her sweet Oma. Garter toss? Nope, didn’t happen.

My favourite moment was the wedding ceremony, during which Karla & Steve read their own handwritten vows. And it was one of the most personal and moving ceremonies I’ve had the honour to witness so far. I think that when guests at a wedding feel like they’ve just experienced something personal and sacred, then they will experience the wedding as a wonderful event, no matter what type of linens, flowers or favours are there. And at Karla & Steve’s wedding, I think it was definitely the case.

Karla & Steve, thank you so much for having me along to photograph your wedding day! I wish you a lifetime of happiness and laughter.

Nathan & Leanne {Married}

I think their wedding invite said it best: “This day, I will marry my friend, the one I laugh with, live for, dream with, love”. Even after a few months, I can still remember the joy that Nathan and Leanne radiated on their wedding day. It was beautiful.

Nathan and Leanne opted for a first look before their ceremony, it was oh-so-sweet!

Jen & Matthew {Married}

At last! Here is Jen & Matthew’s wedding. Theirs was full of love, and sweetness. And not to mention some of the cutest little ones!It was great to finally meet Jen & Matthew’s parents as well, especially Jen’s dad, who is so sweet, and absolutely adores his only daughter. Thank you – from the bottom of my heart. It’s been a huge pleasure.
