Granite Brewery Wedding // Katie & Gordon

Eclectic Floral Themed Wedding

I’m excited to finally share Katie and Gordon’s eclectic and heartwarming Granite Brewery wedding today! From the moment Katie told me they wanted to go standup paddle boarding for their engagement photos, I knew their wedding was going to be very unique! And unique it was!

The moment I saw Katie’s wedding dress, I was blown away. I’ve never seen such a unique wedding dress before, mostly because it wasn’t white at all. Katie didn’t want to look like a “bride” on her wedding day, she just wanted to look like herself. Katie was certain about the fabric she wanted to use from the beginning – a beautiful sheer organza with floral print. Florals was definitely the theme. Katie’s dress designer Breeyn then hand sewed embellishments over the patterns on the back of the gown to create more vibrancy and added little insects. Then there was this incredible veil made by her friend and designer David, it was inspired by Cinderella’s veil (Katie & Gordon got engaged at Disney)! Katie completed her look with real dried flowers painted onto her nails, and a beautiful bouquet inspired by 1920’s wedding bouquets.

Then there is the wedding itself. The rain forced us to have the ceremony under the awning instead of in the garden but that didn’t dampen the joy of the occassion. Katie is the only bride I’ve photographed who walked down the aisle to the theme song of Star Wars. Gordon, and everyone were very pleasantly surprised! Wayde, their officiant, had one of the most touching ceremonies I’ve witnessed. And the evening festivities included one of the funniest Lip Sync Battles I’ve ever seen. So all in all, the day was a lot of fun.

Thank you so much for inviting me to the Granite Brewery to share in and document your special day Katie & Gordon! It was such a pleasure to be a part of it. Here’s the story of their wedding day.

Kortright Centre Wedding // Caroline & Henry

Intimate Fall Wedding in Kleinburg

I’m so excited to share this Kortright Centre wedding with you! This was my first time photographing a wedding at the Kortright Centre for Conservation, and boy was it a good time to photograph there. I did not expect the trees to be in such beautiful colours but when I arrived at the visitor centre and saw the ceremony site (they call it The Cathedral of Trees), I was actually in awe. Trees with different shades of yellow and orange surrounded you, and when the wind blew, a few fell. On top of that, it was a sunny day! It felt quite magical.

The wedding itself was a true labour of love: Caroline made all the table decor items including the jars with gold glitter, and she hand-dyed the dinner menu cards. She also hand-knotted the beautiful macrame that adorned the birch branches as the ceremony backdrop. Her brother, bridesmaids and friends helped set up the reception tables, and the ceremony decor, while Henry and the groomsmen brought Caroline’s vision of an outdoor entrance to life.

I also love the way Caroline and Henry did their First Look – they didn’t see each other at first while Henry passed a card to Caroline for her to read before they both turned around. As someone who is better at written communication (it gives me time to think about what I want to say, instead of blurting out whatever is on my mind), I definitely resonated with this twist on the First Look.

Thank you Caroline and Henry, for having me join in this intimate celebration of your love and marriage. It was a pleasure to document the story of this special day for you!

Hayley & Mark // Pipers Heath Wedding

So here’s the deal. Here’s what happens when I photograph your wedding: I will smile, giggle, laugh and tear up with you. We will hug at the end of the night. Then I will go home and smile, giggle, laugh and tear up all over again when I go through and edit your photos. This was definitely the case with Hayley & Mark.

It rained a little on their wedding day, but that didn’t matter. Not when you are about to marry the love of your life and your best friend. You only needed one look at them to feel and share their palpable excitement and joy. I adore how much they adore each other.

Thank you H & M: for inviting me into one the most special days in your life, for trusting me to document it and create memories for you. It was truly a wonderful and heartfelt celebration. Here’s Hayley & Mark’s beautiful Pipers Heath wedding.
