McLean House Wedding // The Estates of Sunnybrook

Last month I had the opportunity to help photograph this beautiful McLean House wedding at the Estates of Sunnybrook. Elly and her good friend Simin are the lovely ladies behind ES Design, who was the planning team for this wedding. I also photographed Elly’s beautiful wedding at The Lake House in the summer so when she contacted me again to help shoot this wedding and get some working shots of them, I had to say yes. The elegant details that they put together complemented the venue perfectly!

I’ve photographed a few weddings at the Vaughn estate at Sunnybrook before but this was my first time photographing at McLean House. If you like the look of Vaughn estate or are looking for something similar to Graydon Hall but for a smaller wedding, McLean House is perfect for a more intimate event. The house is gorgeous and full of beautiful touches. The backyard where the ceremony can be held is lovely with the house in the background.

Thanks Elly & Simin for having me again! It was so fun working with you and I hope we’ll do it again soon!

Koh Lanta Engagement // Thailand Wedding Photographer

In early November when I was travelling in Thailand, I had the opportunity to photograph an engagement session in Koh Lanta.

Heather & Kevin are one of my couples who are getting married at the end of the month and they currently work and live in Bangkok. After I booked my trip to China & Thailand, I remembered that Heather & Kevin are there too so I emailed them about doing their engagement session in Thailand and they were totally up for it! After a few emails, we decided on Koh Lanta, one of the southern islands. It is a less well known island which was perfect as we really got to appreciate the beauty of the island without crowds.

The day of our session arrived, and the forecast was calling for rain. Luckily it held off until we were done. As we walked back to the car the rain started to fall. The sun was playing hide and seek for most of our session but right at the end, it came out and the light was perfect.

Thank you so much for having me photograph you in Koh Lanta Heather & Kevin! I hope these photos will remind you of the wonderful time you spent in Thailand when you look back at them years later. xo

Adventurous Engagement Session Toronto Islands // Katie & Gordon

I photographed an adventurous engagement session on the Toronto Islands earlier in the summer with Katie and Gordon. They are both Stand-up Paddleboard lovers so they wanted to incorporate that into their Document Love/engagement session. I’m always a proponent of documenting my couple’s life and their love together, so that later on they can look back and remember fondly what life was like back then.

Katie is a makeup artist and Gordon is a graphic designer. They met while working on the set of the same show together. Gordon made a funny comment about how these tiny plants in the field on the set looked like weed leaves and they had a laugh together and immediately hit it off. And the rest was history!

Here are my favourites from their session! Can’t wait for your wedding next summer! <3

Queen West Engagement Session // Peter & Jennifer

I photographed a Queen West engagement session earlier in the summer with Peter and Jennifer. We started at sunrise at Trinity Bellwoods Park and then walked around the Queen West neighbourhood. I’m not gonna lie, I had to take a nap after I got home but it was totally worth it for the golden light and to have the park almost all to ourselves.

As a photographer, I guess one of the biggest ways for you to feel like you are doing it right is when you have clients who are referred to you by previous ones. Peter and Jennifer were in the wedding party of one of my couples from a few years ago – Maggie and Jack. In fact, they were introduced by Maggie and Jack. So it was really great when they got in touch about me photographing their wedding as well!

Peter and Jenn are so cute together – this became very apparent to me during their engagement session. Peter said that he is probably known at work as a very serious and no shenanigans kind of person but Jenn knows a completely different side of him. But that’s when you know you’ve found the right person right? Someone with whom you feel like you can completely be yourself with and they love you truly for who you are.

Here are my favourites from their session – looking forward to their wedding next week!

Liuna Station Wedding // Stefanie & Mark

Stefanie and Mark had a beautiful Liuna Station wedding a couple of months ago. It was my first time photographing at Liuna Station in Hamilton, and it’s such a beautiful venue. Liuna Station was previously train station, and even though it’s a wedding venue now, they preserved the structure well. It feels like a mini version of Union Station in Toronto or Grand Central in New York. I’m an enthusiast for train travel and I love old train stations.

I photographed Stefanie’s sister Simona’s wedding a few years ago. It was my first year photographing weddings full time and Simona & Daryl was a wonderful couple who really appreciated my style and trusted me to document their day. So when Stefanie contacted me about photographing hers and Mark’s wedding, I knew it would be a great fit.

On their wedding day, I really felt like I was a part of the big family somehow. Especially Stefanie and Simona’s mom Franca who is so sweet and wonderful. Here is the story of Stefanie and Mark’s wedding!
