Lidia and Greg got married on a perfect day in early May at the Estates of Sunnybrook. It was a gorgeous wedding! Lidia was beautiful in a silk satin ball gown. Greg is a professional poker player, and not a bad cookie baker too. {they had freshly baked cookies as favours} – yum!
I was helping out fellow photographer and friend, Karen Lee of Boutique Photography for this wedding. Thank you Karen! It was a pleasure working with you. :)
Getting married or not, boys will be boys!
catching the last golden rays of sun :)
After their first dance, they broke out into a surprise choreographed hip hop routine!
If you know me, you know that I like High Park. And High Park in the Spring when the Cherry Blossoms bloom is probably High Park at its best. So I was very excited to have been able to take photos for Karla and Steve there in April. Although the park was heaving with people that afternoon, we managed to find some quiet spots and make it all our own. I’m really looking forward to their wedding in a month – especially seeing Karla in her gorgeous gown.
We just returned home after a month’s traveling post-wedding, I’m sufficiently dark despite my efforts with sunscreen, and have tons of photos to go through. I’ll be posting some photos soon, and sharing some of our wedding planning experience as well.
Things have been pretty hectic for the past little while! Between wedding planning, moving and running a business, it’s taken up most of my time! In the next little while, I will have a couple of sweet engagements on the blog and some really cute babies too.
Location is important when you buy a house, and it isn’t any different when it comes to your wedding. Besides your photographer -I’m not biased or anything :) – the location of your venue is probably the most important choice you will make. Often your venue will inspire your theme and the overall look and feel of your wedding. So I’m a big proponent for picking a venue/location that speaks to you and that represents your story as a couple.
I drove up north past Halton Hills to scout a couple of locations for engagement sessions a couple of days ago and Scotsdale Farm was one of the places I visited. As soon I drove down the long, gravel entrance and parked the car, I was smitten. The farm is part of the Ontario Heritage Foundation and it seems many of the original features were maintained. The property is expansive, and is part of the Bruce Trail and Silver Creek Conservation area. It has a few side trails with forests, streams, and bridges. I only covered a small part of the hike this time, but I would love to return and hike the entire trail.
The location is rustic, charming and romantic, perfect if you are looking for an alternative location for a wedding or if you are planning a country wedding. The light was quite gorgeous in the afternoon, and would be stunning in the fall when the trees change colours. This is also great for an engagement session, with great backdrops around the farm and walks around the trail.
Baby Khyal was my first newborn shoot. He was just 10 days old for our photo session. So little, and so precious. I’m constantly amazed how much each baby’s personality is so readily apparent from the beginning. At just 10-days old, little Khyal wouldn’t sleep for us. And as these things go, after 3 hours of trying to coax him to sleep soundly, he slumbers off into dreamland after I left!
I think their wedding invite said it best: “This day, I will marry my friend, the one I laugh with, live for, dream with, love”. Even after a few months, I can still remember the joy that Nathan and Leanne radiated on their wedding day. It was beautiful.
Nathan and Leanne opted for a first look before their ceremony, it was oh-so-sweet!
