Amanda & Duncan + Georgia

“My husband I were eager to do some photos of our family, but always cringed at the thought of posed portrait photography. I knew I had found what we were looking for when I saw her photoshoot of my dear friends Ming, Justin and Dash. I immediately reached out and booked our date. Janice was flexible and helpful with ideas on location and timing. The day of she was incredible at keeping us all at ease and capturing my daughter in candid happy moments. The photos are a treasure and a beautiful study of light. We will be doing another shoot in the spring adding my in-laws to the mix.”

Oliver: 1 Year Old // Toronto Family Photographer

Oliver is 1 year old! Well he’s actually 14 months old now. :) I can’t believe how fast time flies. It seems like just yesterday that I took photos of this lovely family when Oliver was just a wee newborn, and again when he was just 6 months old. It’s been an honour to document them at these 3 different stages in Oliver’s first year. For this session, we went down to the Sunnyside Park in the early morning and caught some golden early morning light.

Time and time again, I’m surprised by how much personality the little people exhibit at such a young age. I’ve learned a lot in the past year, and for Oliver’s 1 year session, I learned that once they can walk and run, you better learn to catch up! There is just so much to explore.

Thanks so much guys! It’s been incredible to be able to document these moments for you in the past year.

“Blow kisses Oliver!”

Scruffy was going crazy trying to get to the water…and finally!

I’m pretty sure Scruffy had just eaten a bubble in this picture. Everyone is in awe.

Mother & son: so sweet.

Sandra & Rob // Inn on the Twenty Wedding // Niagara-on-the-Lake Wedding Photography

Sandra & Rob had a beautiful and intimate Inn on the Twenty wedding on a bright, sunny afternoon in July. The ceremony was at the Cavespring vineyard and the reception was held at the Inn on the Twenty. Sandra is my friend Michelle’s sister-in-law. I also photographed Michelle & Remi’s wedding last year. So it was great to see some familiar faces.

The vineyard setting was romantic and perfect for the intimate ceremony. I really think that when it comes to settings for a wedding, simple is the way to go. When you have a beautiful and simple setting, you don’t have much more decorating to do. The reception was held in the cellar at the Inn on the Twenty. The food was simply delicious! Normally I don’t drink anything alcoholic while I shoot a wedding, but I had a few sips of their Cabernet Franc before I left, and it was also delicious :) I’m still thinking about the wine now…

Congrats you guys, wishing you nothing but happiness!

Amanda, Duncan & Georgia // Mississauga Family Photographer

Amanda & Duncan are friends of Justin & Ming (and sweet Dash). Naturally, I was thrilled when she contacted me a few months ago for a photo session! Even better when I found out they have a sweet little girl named Georgia. I’d been photographing lots of little boys up to that point!

We had to reschedule our session and postpone it by almost a month because of rain, but boy it was worth it to have that nice golden light near sunset. :) We went down to the waterfront in Mississauga and just had ourselves a play date, swings and all. I really do think the best way to capture children is having them in their element: playing and having fun. Although I’m starting to think that maybe 3 is the age where they start to pose a little for the camera unprompted ;)

Thank you Amanda & Duncan! You have such a wonderful family and have a beautiful and vivacious little girl!
