Baby Graham {1 Year Old} // Toronto Baby Photographer

I first met baby Graham when he was just three weeks old, then again when he was 6 months old. And last month, he turned 1. It’s amazing how time flies. Heather & Mark had a little birthday celebration for Graham where he had cake for the first time and had lots of fun with balloons, his favourite.

I loved being able to witness some key milestones in little Graham’s first year and documenting them. What a little man he’s grown into! And those blue eyes and sweet cheeks. :)

Thank you Heather & Mark, for inviting me into your home again and for having me along to photograph the amazing time that was baby Graham’s first year.

This bunny is well-weathered. It also appeared in our first session.

Heather said he loves babies, and these photos are evidence of that.

Then we opened some presents, but I think Graham was more interested in the tissue paper. :)

And he made a new friend :)

Baby Tara {8 Months & 1 Year} // Toronto Baby Photography

I first met and photographed little Tara when she was 8 months old, and what a sweetie she was. A couple of weeks ago, I met up with the family again to document Tara turning 1. It’s really a great pleasure to watch these little ones grow, and an honour to be invited into their lives more than once. Thank you Mahima, Ashley, Shaan and Tara!

I had planned to blog the two sessions separately but have decided to combine them instead. Tara’s 1-year session further confirmed my belief that you just gonna chase them down once they learn how to walk, because there’s simply too much to explore to sit still :)

Here are my favourites from both sessions. Enjoy!

They grow up fast!

Must be tough being 1 ;)

This last photo cracks me up :) What said girls have cooties?! ;)

Family Ties // Family Portrait Photographer Toronto

Here is Meaghan, her family & her extended family: her brother, sister-in-law, her sister, her brother-in-law and their respective children. I met them one Sunday morning in the fall and followed them around for a couple of hours and captured some photos.

I often tell my clients that my family sessions take on a lifestyle approach. What I mean is that they won’t be required to pose and to look/be perfect for the session.  While I think a “perfect photo” can be pretty – everyone posed perfectly, smiling at the camera, evenly lit – I think real life is more beautiful. Not just beautiful, but natural and authentic as well. I believe this to be even more true when it comes to kids: big grins, giggling, jumping around, making faces, being goofy. As a photographer, I believe it’s essential to let kids be kids during family sessions. This way I can capture the little things they do and the little details of their lives that make them who they are, and convey their true personality through images. And parents? My goal is to capture those little interactions between you and your family where you so unconsciously, reflexively and unconditionally love them.

This photo below brings a smile to my face. It’s far from perfect, but it’s real and natural, and it’s funny.

The Wong Family // Toronto Family Photographer

Remember this sweet family? One of Ming’s sisters, Lynn, contacted me in the Spring (yes..of last year! I’m catching up!) and asked me if I’d photograph her family, her parents (grandma & grandpa Wong), her siblings & their families. I was like – yea!

They were such great people, and it was such an honour and a pleasure to document 3 generations of a family together. I knowI’ve said this before, but there’s something amazing about being around kids. Their sense of wonder and joy at the smallest things bring out the kid in me and makes me feel giddy and worry-free. It’s possible that I’m totally biased since these kids were so well behaved. :)

Alice & Wayne + Natalie & Katherine // Oakville Family Photographer

You saw the sneak peek last week, here’s the rest of my favourites from our fun early evening photo session. They have such a wonderful family with two sweet and beautiful girls.

I think lifestyle family sessions are the best – photographing them doing what they would do as a family, in their natural element.

Mom & Dad got a few photos for themselves :)

Eating grapes is funny business ;)
