My baby sessions take on more of a candid, lifestyle approach, which means no props (if you have items you’d like to include, we can definitely incorporate them), not a lot of posing, and no need for babies to be sound asleep. Just you and your new bundle of joy hanging out; natural & no fuss.

Katie & Bryan: Expecting // Toronto Maternity Photographer

It rained on this particular early November morning for Katie’s maternity session. I had just gotten back from the sunny Caribbean a few days before, and was still getting used to the damp Fall weather we were having. The rain kept us from being outdoors for this session so Katie and Bryan invited me into their beautiful home for an indoor, at-home session. They shared some laughs over random baby books and shared their hopes for their little one with me.

Baby Andrew {1 Year Session} // Toronto Baby Photography

I first photographed baby Andrew when he was just a wee newborn, then again when he was 6 months old. Then in October, he turned one. It was really great to go back again and document another big milestone and see how much he’s grown! Mom and dad planned a mini cake smash into the session and we got some interesting reactions.

Here are some of my favourites, enjoy!

“Are you sure about this Mom? Normally I can’t touch anything!”

He was mostly interested in putting his fingers in the cake, not so much with eating :)

Baby Maya // Toronto Baby Photography

Little Maya: she was so teeny tiny when I met her. There’s something really calming for me when I photograph a newborn/baby session. I don’t know what it is, maybe it’s the fact that they are pretty oblivious to what’s going on. Or maybe it’s just that I feel like time slows down a little for me when I spend a couple of hours with these little ones. As much as I love weddings, they can be quite hectic. Baby sessions on the other hand, are usually quite the opposite. They give me a chance to quietly go about my work. Though I guess I’m not the parents with a crying baby ;) And having gone through the requisite late nights and all-nighters in college, I know very well what sleep deprivation can do to someone. To be honest, that part of parenthood (at least early parenthood) is something I look forward to the least. In the meantime, I will remain the doting photographer. :)

This below is Boomer! He’s got such personality! Too bad my photos couldn’t quite capture that. Every time I pointed the camera at him, he’d pose.

He was absolutely posing in the below photo.

Maria, Christian & Baby Kleo // Family Photographer Toronto

I love photographing families – to be invited into a snippet of their day to document some authentic moments. Maybe it’s a Sunday morning, maybe it’s going to your favourite park, maybe it’s cooking together. Whatever it is, pick something that you love doing together, something that’s “your thing”. I know life is busy and we don’t always feel we are at your best because we devote so much of our time and energy to keep everything running. But life is also precious, and it will just fly by if we don’t take a moment and pause sometimes. I won’t tell you to “stand there and just smile”. Your hair doesn’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to wear matching outfits (actually, please don’t!). It’ll just be relaxed and natural and I will capture something that not only looks good, but feels good as well.

On a sunny day in May, that’s exactly what I did with Maria, Christian and baby Kleo.

Baby Andrew {6 Months Old} // Lifestyle Baby Photography

If you’ve looked through my work from the past year, you’ll notice that I haven’t posted many baby & family sessions – yup I’m a little behind! Now that it’s winter time, I’m going to catch up and blog some of my favourite baby & family sessions from the past year. Starting today is a really special little guy. I first met baby Andrew when he was just 9 days old, and back in April I met up with his family for his 6-month session. No matter how many times it happens, I will never cease to be amazed by how fast they grow up! He was such a smiley and happy baby and I’m glad I captured some of that from this session.
