“When I started my search for wedding photographers, I could not help but find the posed, photo shoot type pictures flooding the internet. I came upon Janice’s website and it was like a breath of fresh air. I loved everything about her photos – she truly captured all of the moments and memories. We started with a relaxed, home engagement session which was truly remarkable. My favorite thing about Janice was that she listened! She knew exactly what we wanted and moved forward with that. The wedding was no exception. The photos were absolutely perfect! She brought a second photographer to help her capture all of the best moments of the day. Janice – you truly did an exceptional job! Thank you for providing us with amazing photos that truly took our breath away! Thanks for also just being you – your positive and friendly attitude that day did not go unnoticed. Many friends and family complemented your amazing talents! Thanks for being part of our day! Simona & Daryl xoxo”
Here is the story of Simona & Daryl’s wedding day!
“Right from the beginning, I knew it was going to be a fantastic experience working with Janice! And I can honestly say, that I was not wrong to think that. Communicating with Janice has always been quick and easy. She would always respond promptly to our emails and concerns with creative suggestions and such attentiveness. My husband and I couldn’t have found anyone better to capture our wedding. Janice was perfect- from her personable self to her amazing ability to document our day. The thing that I love most about our wedding pictures are how Janice was able to capture such genuine moments- the smiles, tears and laughs of everyone. I would highly recommend Janice for her talent and creative eye as well as for making the whole process comfortable and easy and one less thing you need to stress over. Thank you Janice- we loved every minute of working with you and everything you’ve done for us!! Thank you for going above and beyond for us! Xoxo”

“I’m almost not sure how to fully express my happiness over the pictures Janice took for us. My wife and I wanted a journalistic sort of take on our wedding day. I specified that I didn’t want too many posed photos; that I loved spontaneity of the moment. We would not be taking a video and we wanted pictures that helped us do the impossible and retain the day.
Janice has a wonderful, professional manner that starts long before the event day. She has a questionnaire that helps her to get to know you better. Filling it out is fun, but on the other end what it means is that she understands some essential truths about you that enables her not just to deliver the kinds of pictures you were hoping for, but pictures that you didn’t even realize you wanted.
She chose visually arresting locales near our venue. We said that we wanted pictures of us laughing, and there were plenty and they were joyous. We said one of my favorite things about the venue was the light, and lo, all the photos have a beautiful, natural feel with such depth and beauty that they profoundly show off the space.
Then there’s the story. The story of the day for my wife Kim and I will never be forgotten because Janice got it all. It’s all there. Friendly faces, interesting configurations, beautiful still lifes, stolen moments of joy — painless posed photos that look like people who didn’t have to stand around for 30 minutes getting them.
My wife and I are both intermittently self-conscious about photos, but Janice unfailingly captured us at our best. I think she may have actually captured pictures of my wife that are more how I see her than how she sees herself. I don’t know how one does that — I suppose that’s part of the gift.
Add to that Janice herself — an easy laugh, a kind and enthusiastic manner — and all I can say is that there’s only one decision about the day I think was a better one… and that was getting my Kim to say yes. Thank you Janice for preserving a unique memory forever, and elevating so many beautiful photos from moments in time to moments of art. All my dreams came true — and the story of our day will live forever in your photos.”

“Timothy and I eloped on April 19th, 2013. We wanted to have a very private/romantic day, just the two of us, our witnesses and a photographer. The last thing that I wanted was those posed cliche wedding photos that everyone seems to get. I started searching for a photographer online and I found Janice’s blog. I instantly felt connected to her artistic vision as well as her personality. I’m so thankful that we did find her. Our photos turned out beautifully, and the experience itself made the day so much more special and memorable. We would highly recommend Janice Yi Photography to anyone looking for a photographer. Hopefully we’ll get to use her for some baby photos one day soon :D”
“As first time parents we didn’t quite know what to expect from our newborn daughter, let alone how a photo shoot would work with her, but we were excited to get photos done to document this amazing chapter in our lives. Janice was so flexible with the dates of the shoot as I was 8 days late in delivering and it was over the holiday period. On the day of the shoot Janice was so patient with Matilda as she decided she was going to be wide awake. She was so professional and calm as we tried to get her to sleep. Janice was a natural in holding and moving Matilda, I think she was more comfortable than we were. Janice captured some amazing photos of her! I don’t know how she captured some of the fantastic expressions that she did. We ended up with a great variety of photos that reflected us as a family. We loved all the photos and were so impressed with Janice’s professionalism, calm manner and how she handled our newborn. We would definitely recommend her for anyone thinking of doing a newborn photo shoot.” – Emma & Adam
“When Shane and I finally decided to get married, we were looking for a photographer to capture the intimacy of the event. Janice did just that, with the utmost grace, professionalism and sincerity. We had wanted a photograph to post at the wedding table – Janice happily traipsed around wet, slushy Toronto with us to take a few perfect shots with the city in the background. At the reception, at the Archeo in the Distillery District, Janice was able to use the rustic location beautifully and has given us some gorgeous, warm photographs of candid moments with family and friends whom Shane and I haven’t seen in a year as we live in India. She was absolutely non-intrusive, as well! She even knew about this one particular nook in the DD with fantastic light where she took our portraits. I have no hesitation in recommending Janice to anyone who may be looking for that perfect person to tell the story of their wedding day :) Thank you Janice – our friends and family have raved about how beautiful the pictures are!”
